Think for a moment about your meeting calendar. If you’ve got a little seniority, you likely remember when it was hard-copy. You wrote meetings in bound calendar of some kind and checked it every morning to remind yourself of the day or week ahead.
Most of us now rely on our smart phones or email programs to remind us of meetings and other events. We can be working away or lost in thought and — thankfully — our phone or computer chimes and tells us its time to head to the next meeting.
While it may be an oversimplified analogy, contract management technology works the same way. Instead of relying on paper-based systems and our biological memory to recall key dates, specially designed contract management systems can it for us.
For most contract managers, this functionality is a lifesaver — or at least a revenue-saver. Relying on spreadsheets or our memories to keep track of renewal dates, incentive structures, payment details and other critical dates is simply too much to ask, especially if you’re managing hundreds or thousands of agreements.
A recent survey commissioned by Merrill DataSite® shows that a majority of contract managers worry about missing key dates and missing out on important revenue opportunities for their organizations,. The results of that study — which also addressed other key concerns for contract managers — lead to the production of a new white paper, entitled “Seven Smart Fixes for Contract Managers.” You can download the complimentary white paper here.
In addition to the white paper, you can join the conversation by posting your comments below. Your thoughts and perspectives on this and other contract management topics are welcome.
